Can God Hear My Prayers?
Something neat happened to me through a text message and it was right about the time when I really needed something special to happen.
My husband, Aaron, was seriously ill and had been admitted into two hospitals within a matter of weeks.
Aaron had just had his 2nd biopsy, and I was sitting by his bed, praying.
Is God aware of me at this present moment?
Can He hear my prayers? My desperate heart wondered.
Within an hour I received a text message from someone, “We are praying for you and will continue to do so. We know the Lord sees us.”
My faith soared!
Yes, God Heard Me, and "Helped Me"
The Bible mentions the eyes of the Lord search the earth looking for those He can help.
2 Chronicles 16:9 (KJV)
For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.
The Lord's eyes are everywhere, beholding the evil and the good.
He searches the earth to see whose hearts are towards Him.
God's Eyes Behold "All Things"
Proverbs 15:3 (KJV)
The eyes of the Lord are in every place, watching the evil and the good.
Psalm 139:7-10 (KJV)
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will lay hold of me.
1 Peter 3:12 (KJV)
The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers, but the face of the Lord is against them to that do evil.
After reading this I realized why prayer is SO important.
This is the avenue in which we get answers from heaven!
The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth for those:
whose hearts are perfect towards Him
for those who are living a righteous life
and for those who are praying
then He moves on their behalf!
I Prayed for My Husband's Healing Fervently
If you ever wonder whether you should pray about something, the answer is yes, you should pray, and you should pray all the time!
1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV)
PRAY without ceasing.
Why should we pray all the time?
So, the Lord will find us when He searches the earth
Then He will show Himself strong on our behalf
and answer our prayers
How neat is that?
The Lord does see us! His Word tells us so!
AND He wants to help us.
AND He wants to be our Helper.
The Lord wants us to come boldly before the throne of grace and ask for mercy and help in our time of need. (Hebrews Chapter 4.)
And we are told to "pray without ceasing," which is interpreted, "all the time."
My Mouth Confessed My Hope in God
My husband was ill for 10 weeks with an undiagnosed condition, and he was admitted to 3 hospitals during that time.
We received SO many comforting cards, emails, and texts from different people around the world.
It was a beautiful outpouring of love which was very appreciated.
When people asked for an update on my husband's health via text message or email, I was very careful of what I said.
My confession and declaration of faith was always, "Our trust is in the Lord, our hope is in God, we know all things work together for good to those who love God…"
What we confess in times of despair is very important.
Never once did I deny God’s power in my husband's situation. Neither did he.
When we have the confession of faith and trust, we have the assurance God is involved with every aspect of our lives.
If He is in control, then He can move on our behalf.
Never once did my husband complain during His undiagnosed illness.
His confession of faith was, “I believe the Lord is going to work this for my good somehow.”
May this be our confession as well, no matter what we are facing.
Romans 8:28 (KJV)
All things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purposes.
God Helped Me in My Time of Need
Eventually, my husband was diagnosed with a rare auto-immune disease and was released shortly after receiving his first infusion.
His health grows stronger each day, praise the Lord!
Did God see me in my despair? Yes
Did God come to my aid? Yes
Did God help me? Yes
Yes, God's eyes searched the whole earth looking for someone He could help, and His eyes landed on me!
He became my Help when I was weak.
He lifted me up when I was down.
He gave me grace to say and do the right thing.
Matthew 10:32-33 (KJV)
Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my father which is in heaven. But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
I Will Hold Fast to My Profession
The Lord has a heart for all of us and knows exactly what we are feeling because He lived on this earth as well.
He tells us that we should come boldly before His throne asking for help in our time of need.
Hebrews 4:14-16 (KJV)
Seeing then that we have a great high priest that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Should we trust in the One who sees and hears our prayers? Yes
Should we believe that God sees us? Yes
Absolutely! Without a doubt!
May we be those that HOPE in God's lovingkindnesses!
Psalm 33:18 (KJV)
Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, and on those who HOPE in His lovingkindness.
